Karachi
The newly-established career counseling centre at the Pharmacy Department was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor (VC) University of Karachi (KU) Prof. Qasim Pirzada on Tuesday.
The counseling centre will enable students to choose their career according to their aptitude and level of excellence in their respective fields.
“This project is unique as no other public university is offering such facility to its students. It is lamentable that majority of students do not have the understanding of their potential and usually proceed to a career that hardly suits their aptitude,” Prof. Qasim remarked.
The centre is the result of direct interaction between a pharmaceutical company and Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy Dr Syed Waseemuddin Ahmed.
Dr Ahmed said that earlier the pharmacy students faced problems regarding career choice due to the absence of career counseling centres in universities or elsewhere. He hoped that the centre would help students advance their careers in the right direction.
On the occasion, gold medals were given to the position holders of the department.
Secretary Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS) Dr Fayyaz Vaid, former chairman of Pharmacology department, Dr Rafeeq Alam Khan, Chairman Department of Pharmacognosy Dr Iqbal Azhar and faculty members from other departments also attended the event. The News
